The Carousel at 2400 Grayland Avenue is a masterful blend of preservation and modern luxury, breathing new life into a Richmond landmark. Constructed between 1910 and 1930, the three original structures served as a car barn, trolley garage, and office space for Dominion Energy. Today, these iconic buildings have been meticulously transformed into a stylish mixed-use and multi-family community that honors their rich heritage while embracing contemporary design.
The Carousel houses 125 thoughtfully design apartment homes across four stories, offering a selection of studio, one- and two-bedroom floor plans. Featuring a variety of layouts, The Carousel provides each resident with a unique living experience through high-end finishes (such as spa-inspired bathrooms with backlit mirrors, granite countertops, and stainless-steel appliances), expansive windows that floor the interiors with natural light, and several two-story lofted floorplans that create a truly dynamic living environment. Amenities include an iconic Carousel Bar & Lounge, expansive state-of-the-art fitness center, yoga room, dedicated movie and karaoke, room, podcast studio, kayak and bike storage, co-working spaces, and pet spa with no breed restrictions.
In addition to the renovation of the existing buildings, the construction of The Carousel also included the addition of “The Hyphen” – a former loading dock space now serving as the grand entrance. Complete with glass paneling and high-end fixtures, The Hyphen connects the former office and warehouse spaces.
