KBS performed the tenant improvements in the 1902 Putney Shoe Factory Building to make way for a satellite office to house CarMax’s Marketing and Technology business units in an open-plan, flexible workspace complementing the industrial origins of the original construction. The office is in the Whole Foods-anchored Sauer Center on West Broad Street.
In addition to standard open-office workspace and related conference/huddle rooms, the scope of the project includes the construction of a mezzanine conference space in the main factory floor area with bleacher seating, construction of restrooms in the “headhouse” area, construction of a fitness center in the basement of the Annex, and construction of a broadcast studio space.
KBS also constructed the five-story, 243,000-square-foot corporate headquarters for Carmax.
