Two KBS project teams are being recognized for achievements during the fourth quarter of 2017.
The quality award was given to the Sam’s Club Midlothian team consisting of McMahon Croft, project manager; Jacob Dalton, project engineer; Brian Barrett, Brian Emminger, Brian McDaniel and Paul Byrd, superintendents; and Tina Hudson, project assistant. The team completed the 139,000-square-foot membership warehouse club which includes an optical center, pharmacy, fuel center, bakery and cafe.
“This project has required phased remodel construction. This can be difficult as each phase will ultimately affect the following phase of construction. It is important to complete each phase on time and with good quality workmanship and functionality. This team has done an awesome job of reaching each milestone,” said said Matt Kamstra, corporate quality director. “One of the most important aspects of a Sam’s Club remodel is to make sure that the store is operational during the remodel efforts. Through careful sequencing and addressing the store’s needs, the team has maintained a great environment for the store and customers.”
The Valley West Apartments team received the safety award. The team is made up of Daniel Atwood, project engineer; Mark Chamberlain, superintendent; April Shumate, project assistant; Michael Stephens, project manager; Michael Greer and Scott Neel, assistant superintendents; Casey Christopher and Roy Fuentes, carpenters; and Mike Jones, carpenter’s assistant. The team is working on the 273,774-square-foot apartment building with 156 units in Richmond’s Shockoe Bottom.
“The Safety Department selected Valley West for their diligence in staying on top of safety of this high-profile, downtown, multi-family project. All safety issues were immediately addressed and did not carry over on future inspections. Given the amount of activity on site, it was indeed a pleasure receiving such a high level of cooperation from the field team at being proactive for safety. The recognition is well deserved,” said Mark Lambert, corporate safety director.
