Boston architect George Adler, from E. Verner Johnson & Associates, worked closely with KBS throughout the project to help create the museum that its benefactor, the Pamplin Family, had in mind.
Details such as extensive mural paintings, technical wiring and an architectural dome were all components of the 25,000-square-foot museum.
The building includes exhibit space, a museum store and administrative offices. There was extensive landscaping done along the exterior and the parking area accommodated over 100 vehicles.
